Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine that focuses on the vital life force energy (Chi) and fourteen major energy channels (meridians) in which Chi flows.  Chi circulates via the meridians to all parts of the body, even the most remote cells.  The balance is critical to sound health and sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.  Any misdirection, blockage, or other derangement of the amount, flow, or balance of Chi may result in pain, dysfunction, and ill health.  Stimulation of one or a combination of key “Acupoints” on the body may restore harmony to the affected area.

The main objectives of acupuncture are to relieve pain or symptoms, strengthen the immune system, and balance functions within the body.  Acupuncturists treat an imbalance of Chi a wall as treat hundreds of symptoms and conditions with positive results.  Among conditions most frequently treated are the following:  Allergies, Shoulder pain, headaches, colds, tinnitus, neck pain, disc problems, asthma, constipation, sinusitis, indigestion, low back pain, and fatigue.  There are many ways to stimulate “Acupoints” including both needle and non-needle techniques.  Acupuncture needles are fine, flexible, and very slender.  Most patients do not experience any pain while others report a slight tingling sensation when the needles make contact with the Chi.

The desired balance in the flow of Chi can be affected by many different noxious substances both external and internal.  Chi can become blocked or unbalanced by poor nutrition, infectious or contagious diseases, ergonomic or overuse injuries, as well as home, work, sports, and auto injuries.  Chi can also be affected by worry, anxiety, and stress.
